Contact us at azoresinprivate@gmail.com if you can't find the answer to your question here!

Azores in Private offers private car tours/excursions to some of São Miguel most remarkable spots, where you will have an experienced local guide just for you

You can easily book a tour on our website using the booking form. We also gladly accept reservations by phone or email.

Full day tours usually start between 09:00/09/30. Half day tours have two slots available, 09:00 and 14:00. That being said, if you want to change the starting hour, it can be done, just check with us for availability!

A private tour means that the itinerary is completely tailored around you and that the

resources included are for your use only. A private

tour usually consists of a personal tour guide, and a  private vehicle just for you. If you choose one of our itineraries avaliable changes can be made (as long as these are within the same geographic area of the itinerary). For a fully customized itinerary please contact us with YOUR itinerary for prices and availability!

It is easily the best way to maximize time as well as gaining some understanding of a different culture, discovering a place true identity, not getting stressed out or lost in the roads... In practice, you can become a bit local and less "foreigner".

According to clients that tried it for the first time, or clients that regularly book them, hardly any!

It really depends on your interests. Sure, you can explore a place on your own, set your own pace, and choose your stops. But here’s the catch… you’ll miss out on all the stories, the history, and everything that truly gives that place its soul — not just snapshots to save or share.

The funny thing is… with our Tours on Demand option, you can have the best of both worlds! Create your own stops and schedule — all the freedom of exploring on your own, with all the insights and advantages of a private tour, right at your fingertips!

On private tour It’s your tour, your way. The itinerary, schedule, and pace are tailored to you (and your group only). You get the guide’s full attention, flexibility for extra stops, and a more personal, immersive experience.
On a shared tour, you join other travelers on a fixed route and schedule. It’s more budget-friendly, but less flexible — the experience is shaped for the group as a whole, not just your preferences.
Bottom line? A private tour puts you in control, while a shared tour means you share the adventure (and the compromises).

The short answer? You pay for what you get.

The longer one? The price can be deceiving. Sure, many shared van tours look cheaper — and they’ll even lure you in with the classic ‘lunch included’ hook. But guess what? You’re still paying for that lunch. The difference is, you don’t get to choose where you’ll eat or what’s on your plate. More often than not, you’ll end up at a restaurant that has a deal with the tour company — a lower price in exchange for bringing in groups.
And here’s another classic: asking the front desk for ‘the best tour company.’ They won’t send you to the best — they’ll send you to the one that pays them the highest commission.
On a private tour? You’re the boss. You decide where to eat, what to eat, and what fits your budget. Sure, we can suggest great spots — but that’s where it ends. The choices are yours. It’s your tour!
